Maki solar lights gained approval by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Thus, 175 Maki ground and paver lights, including SH-180C, SH-170C, and SH-200C, will light up the National Mall in Washington D.C., US. With the support of Meteor Solar LED lighting, our US distributor, Maki lights are chosen to be the only lighting sponsor of the Solar Decathlon event, an important biannual event hosted by the Department of Energy. The purpose of the event is to promote innovative ways to use products currently available in the marketplace so that they may be adopted in both national and international building projects. Such honor allows Maki lights to be exposed internationally.

Maki Solar, with the assistance of Ilos, is hoping to take advantage of new opportunities in the awakening green building material market. We will be able to offer American consumers and construction companies an even wider range of high-quality construction products.

Why do we at Maki Solar feel confident that this is the right time to enter the American market? The overwhelming positive customer response received during 6 months of market research has led us to this conclusion. We have great confidence that the present awareness of environmental protection has opened a door to the green building materials we are so proud of making available.

In October 2007 Maki Solar joined the Manufacturers Agents National Association also known as MANA.

MANA is an association of interdependent manufacturers and representatives dedicated to educating, protecting and promoting multi-line, outsourced sales. They share the belief that agents and principals accomplish the most when they work in harmony. MANA functions as a horizontal organization for both reps and principals.

With the assistance of MANA, Maki Solar will be able to take advantage of outsourced sales. We anticipate that, with this hand in hand cooperation, this special type of teamwork, more paths will open up for us, and we will be able to offer more diversified types of energy saving products to consumers.

In 2007 Maki Solar passed the application review for SBIR and has received the grant

SBIR is a Taiwan government promotional program offered by the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) to encourage Taiwan technology companies to pursue technological innovation and advanced research in some prospective industries.

Maki Solar is the first solar application product company to receive funding from SBIR. For this project, our research team is working in cooperation with National Central University (NCU), a top academic institution specializing in LED technology. This research is focused on the development of high efficiency solar-powered LED warning lights. This one product alone has required us to utilize a variety of technologies, such as LED optical reflectance, LED thermal modules and solar power concentration. The results is that, compared with the existing products, our warning lights offer an increase in LED luminosity of 10%, and a 50% reduction in recharging time. This helps to provide a safer environment and better answers the demand for greater security.
